Resource Family Training Institute Ongoing TrainingGuardians of dependent children and kinship families are welcome to attend all classes provided statewide by the Resource Family Institute, free of charge, whether or not you are licensed.
Washington State Resource Family Lending LibraryThe Lending Library was made possible by the collaboration of the states of Alaska, Oregon, and Washington and Northwest Resource Associates The Lending Library offers books, tapes, and other training materials for Washington state foster parents and kinship provides to check out. The materials will be mailed to you in a re-usable pouch with postage pre-paid by DSHS for the return of the materials. This service is free to all Kinship Caregivers and Foster Parents in Washington State. You do not have to have an open case with the Department in order to use this library. Returning UsersIf you have already registered to use the Lending Library, you can request library materials in the following ways:
Training Credit HoursYou will receive 3 hours of credit for each book read from the Lending Library. Fill out the training evaluation to receive your certificate and credit. Filling Orders & Check Out TimeLending Library requests are filled within 2-3 business days. If the request is received after business hours it may take a day longer. You will recieve a confirmation e-mail once materials have been sent. Materials can be checked out for 5 weeks. The due date will be listed on the check out form included with the materials. To request an extension, e-mail or call us and we will grant it if there are no other families waiting for the item. |
