To Open A File: You can open (download) a document
by clicking on it with your mouse. Depending on the file
format, either the Adobe Reader or the Microsoft Word Viewer
will be launched and then will display the document (you may need to install these viewers first. See below.)
File Types
Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF) is a universal file
format that preserves the fonts, images, graphics, and layout
of any source document, regardless of the application and
platform used to create it. In order to read files with
a .pdf file extension on them you will need to have Adobe
Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. It is available
for free at:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
Files with the .doc file extension were created in Microsoft
Word, a powerful word processing program used by many businesses
to prepare documents. In order to read these documents you
will either need to have Microsoft Word loaded on your computer,
or you can download the free Word-viewer plugin from Microsoft
at this link.
