The Department of Social and Health Services supports sustainability -- conserving today's resources for tomorrow. Following the leadership of the Governor's office, the department has developed a comprehensive plan detailing how the DSHS environmental "footprint" will be reduced in the natural, economic, and cultural environments in which the department works.

DSHS is committed to these goals:

• Improve business practices to ensure that they protect and enhance the environment.
• Foster efficient use of all resources so that all waste can be returned to productive uses.
• Promote awareness of sustainable practices.
