Grief Recovery
Frequently caregivers ask for training on coping with grief and loss after a child leaves their home. Whether a child returns home, leaves as part of a permanent plan, or the caregiver requests a removal, the loss of a child can leave a hole in your heart and your family. However grief does not need to be a life-long pain. Registration is now available for Grief Recovery classes in Tacoma or Vancouver for classes beginning in January. Classes in Aberdeen and Tumwater will be scheduled for spring.

Prudent Parenting
The "Prudent Parenting" bill (ESSB 6479) was passed during the 2014 legislative session and signed into law by Governor Inslee in March. The law becomes effective today, June 12, 2014. This bill gives caregivers the authority to give permission for children and youth in their care to participate in extracurricular, enrichment and social activities without the prior approval of the CA worker. The Division of Licensed Resources has made emergency changes to the Washington Administrative Code (WAC) to ensure compliance with this law. Please read the memo from Darcey Hancock, DLR Administrator regarding the WAC changes.
