Become a Respite Care Provider

Introduction

Take our questionnaire about becoming a respite care provider.

The Respite care providers give foster parents a break from the demands of caring for children with emotional, mental, or physical handicaps.

Even if you have just a few days per month to offer, respite care certification can qualify you to help a foster parent take time for themselves.

Financial Information

  • Respite care payments are made after the service is completed.
  • The IRS considers payments for respite care services to be earned income.
  • DSHS generates tax documents and sends them at the end of the year to the respite provider and IRS.
