Casey Family Programs - Foster Care Alumni - A meeting place for people from foster care who wish to connect to each other and to use their experiences to advocate on behalf of foster children. Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) - An association of public and private nonprofit agencies that assist abused and neglected children and their families each year with a wide range of services. Foster Intervention/Retention Support Team (FIRST): Provides non-judgmental support to foster families experiencing allegations of abuse, neglect, or licensing violations. Call 1-253-219-6782. Foster Parents Association of Washington State (FPAWS) - A non-profit organization committed to strengthening the position of foster parents and the children in their care. Contact the office by calling or writing to: FPAWS Governor's Office of Indian Affairs - Serves as a liaison between state and tribal governments in an advisory, resource, consultation, and educational capacity. Mockingbird Society - A resource for young people who are living in or have lived in foster care. The Mockingbird Society provides young people the opportunity to learn about child welfare policy and programs and to share their thoughts about their foster care experience. National Foster Parent Association - Supports foster parents and remains a consistently strong voice on behalf of all children National Resource Center for Youth Services(NRCYS) - Provides research reports and youth developement ideas. The resource center is available to provide training to states through their Chafee Foster Care Independence program. National Youth In Care Network - A Canadian organization driven by youth (14-24 years of age) in government care whose goal is to help other youth in care regain control over their lives through support, skill building, and healing opportunities. Northwest Infant Survival Alliance-SIDS Foundation of Washington - dedicated to the informational and emotional support of bereaved families, to the education of the general public and professionals, and to the ultimate elimination of sudden infant death through research. Parents Leadership Institute - Helps parents acquire the skills they need to build and rebuild close connections with their children. Parent Soup - A great web site for all kinds of fun and useful information for parents or professionals who deal with children on a regular basis. TeamChild, Advocacy for Youth - Helps youth address causes of juvenile delinquency by advocating for education, mental & medical health services, safe living situations and other supports. Treehouse - A private non-profit organization in Seattle that serves foster children and disadvantaged children. Programs include: Educational Advocacy, Little Wishes, the Wearhouse, and summer camps for children.
