New Foster Care to College Website

The DSHS Children's Administration is excited to announce the launch of the new Foster Care to College website www.independence.wa.gov.

This website provides information for youth between the ages of 13 and 21 to help them successfully transition into adulthood. We hope mentors, caregivers, social workers, contracted providers, educators, and other helpful adult allies will also find it helpful.

The website design focuses on information and programs available for youth in out-of-home-care. Youth who participate in IL/TL programs, Passion to Action and the Foster Care to College Advisory Board reviewed and commented on the content. The website is made available through funds generously provided by the IL Chafee program and grants provided by the Stuart Foundation to the Foster Care to College program.

A flyer announcing the website is in the works and will be sent out to youth and foster parents. In the meantime please save the link (www.independence.wa.gov) to your web favorites and let youth you work with know there is Independence for Foster Youth.
