What is Abuse?

Introduction

The goal of the Safety of Newborn Children Law is to save the lives of newborns in danger of abandonment. It offers parents a safe place to leave a newborn infant, confidentially and without fear of punishment.

Under the Safety of Newborn Children Law:

  • No one will ask your name.
  • You will not be breaking any laws.
  • Your baby will be given medical care and placed in a good home.
  • You will be provided with information on medical care and counseling.

Consider Alternatives

  • Contact family or friends you can trust.
  • Call 1-866 EndHarm (1-866-363-4276) to be connected with a CPS office near you.
  • Contact a crisis line in your area.
  • Consider adoption of your child.
