State Hospitals & Residential Habilitation Centers

State Hospitals

Eastern State Hospital is one of two state-owned psychiatric hospitals for adults. The hospital provides evaluation and inpatient treatment for individuals with serious or long-term mental illness who have been referred to the hospital through the Regional Support Network (RSN) system or through the criminal justice system. Eastern State Hospital is the 312-bed state psychiatric hospital for 21 eastern Washington counties and is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and certified by the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Western State Hospital (WSH) is also a state-owned psychiatric hospital that provides evaluation and inpatient treatment for adults with serious or long-term mental illness who have been referred through the Regional Support Network or through the criminal justice system. Employees of WSH promote recovery and well-being in partnership with the people they serve from 19 western Washington counties. It is a dynamic community that supports people in their healing and recovery, promoting personal and professional growth, research and innovation. The hospital has a capacity of 835 beds and is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and certified by the federal centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Child Study and Treatment Center (CSTC) is a 47-bed psychiatric hospital for children from age 5 to 17 who cannot be served in less restrictive settings within the community. CSTC is the state's only psychiatric hospital for children and accepts patients from across Washington state. The hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), and admissions are handled by the Children's Long-term In-patient Program (CLIP). MORE


Residential Habilitation Centers

Fircrest provides support to about 200 people with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. Its employees take pride in providing excellent care and service to the individuals who reside at Fircrest. MORE

Frances Haddon Morgan Center (FHMC) was established in 1972. It was named to honor the late State Senator Frances Haddon Morgan who was a leader and advocate for children's services, especially for children with disabilities. MORE

Lakeland Village is a state-operated 24-hour facility (Residential Habilitation Center) that provides all facets of training, education and health care for about 250 individuals with developmental disabilities.MORE

Rainier School is a residential facility for adults with developmental disabilities located within the city limits of Buckley, Washington about a mile-and-a-half from downtown. The campus is situated in a peaceful country setting with a unique and prominent view of Mount Rainier. MORE

Yakima Valley School was designated a Nursing Facility in 1994. Currently, about 260 direct care and support staff provide 24-hour nursing care, a full spectrum of clinical and therapeutic programs, and recreation/activities to an average daily population of 108 who reside in 15 separate homes on campus.
