Who is eligible for Pregnant Women Assistance (PWA)?

 

·         Pregnant women who don’t qualify for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or State Funded Assistance (SFA) may be eligible for PWA/GS cash if they meet the criteria in EAZ Manual – WAC 388-400-0055 Who is eligible for the Pregnant Women Assistance (PWA) program?

 

·         PWA (GS) is a cash only program. Pregnancy medical (P02) needs to be screened and processed separately. For instructions on processing Pregnancy Medical, see the Pregnancy Medical chapter. 


How long is the PWA certification period?

 

·         PWA (GS) is certified through the month of the estimated delivery date.

 

o    The GS AU is auto-terminated at the end of the certification period. The GS AU may be reinstated for one additional month if the baby isn’t born in the month of the estimated due date.

 

o    PWA (GS) has no eligibility review requirement.


How do I screen PWA?

 

 To screen in PWA, take the following steps:

 

1.    From the Welcome Back page in aces.online, click the Screen New Application link at the top of the page. The Applicant page displays in a new window.

 

2.    On the Applicant page, enter the head of household’s Name, Residential and Mailing Addresses.  Continue with the screening process until you reach the Finalize page.

 

3.    On the Finalize page, click the Specify Program button.

 

o    On the Finalize – Program Details page, select the program GA Pregnancy (GS) and click Next.

 

o    Enter the Application Date.

 

o    Click Commit 


How do I process PWA?

 

·         To process PWA cash, take the following steps:

 

1.    From the AMEN, select Option O – Interview.

 

2.    On the STAT screen, complete the Finl Resp fields as follows:

 

o    PN – Applicant (for only one member of the AU)

 

o    SP – Ineligible Spouse/Non-Applying Spouse

 

o    IC – Ineligible Child

 

o    NM – Not Related and Not Financially Responsible to the Applicant

 

o    PM – Parent of a Minor Parent

 

3.    On the DEM1 screen, enter pregnancy information in the Due Date and Num Expect fields.

 

4.    Complete the interview following the steps in the Interview chapter.

 

5.    Complete processing following the steps in the Process Application Month chapter.

 

6.    Complete finalizing following the steps in the Finalize Application chapter.
