· Use one of the following methods to check eligibility on a case without actually committing any data:
o Test Eligibility – financial determination on an active or pending case (<F8> Elig Results).
o Trial Eligibility – financial and non-financial eligibility determinations on an active or pending case.
o Trial Budget – determination if a case is eligible for a specific program.
Who can preview eligibility on a case?
· Financial workers and some inquiry only staff have security rights to check eligibility on a case. See What is the ACES Security Matrix?

1. Update any financial screen (such as RES1, EARN, or UNER) with the data you wish to test financial eligibility on.
2. Press <F8> to see the eligibility results. | ||

3. <TRANSMIT> to return to the case. If <F3> is entered, workers receive Edit 0003 INVALID FUNCTION KEY FOR THIS SCREEN.
4. Press <F3> to exit the case, or call DONE and commit the data, if appropriate.
When should I use trial eligibility?
· Use trial eligibility to make financial and non-financial eligibility determinations for a variety of ‘what-if’ situations on an active or pending case. | ||

How do I run trial eligibility on an active or pending case?
1. From AMEN,
o Select Option F – Trial Eligibility.
o Enter the [AUID] or [CLID].
o Enter the [benefit month and year] in the Benefit Month (MM YY) field.
2. Update the screens (DEM1, WORK, RES1, EARN, UNER) with the data you wish to run trial eligibility on.
o Update the Trial Elig HH Increment field on MISC screen to determine how much the household should have received if one more person were on the AU. If that person has income, workers may need to code that information on a client who is a RE – Recipient on the AU. (See example below)
3. Call DONE to see the eligibility results. Non-financial results display on the ELIG screen, and financial results display on the CAFI or FSFI screen. | ||

When should I use trial budget?
· Use trial budget to determine if a case is eligible for a specific program. Workers may also use the Trial Eligibility Calculator located at http://www.dshs.wa.gov/esa/.
1. From AMEN, select Option E – Trial Budget
2. On the TBUD screen, enter the data you wish to run trial budget on. See <F2> and <F1> Help. | ||

3. <TRANSMIT> to see the results on the TBCA screen.
o Press <F18> - TBUD to return to the TBUD screen to change data.
4. Press <F3> or <TRANSMIT> to return to AMEN.
