WAC 388-444-0025 What expenses will the department pay to help me participate in BF E&T?

1)    The department pays certain actual expenses needed for you to participate in the BF E&T program. We will pay for the following expenses:

a.    Transportation related costs; and

b.    Dependent care costs for each dependent through twelve years of age.

2)    We do not pay your dependent care costs if:

a.    The child is thirteen years of age or older unless they are:

                                          i.    Physically and/or mentally unable to care for themselves; or

                                        ii.    Under court order requiring adult supervision; or

b.    Any member in the food assistance unit provides the dependent care.

3)    We do not use the cost of dependent care the department pays for as an income deduction for your household’s dependent care costs under WAC 388-450-0185.

CLARIFYING INFORMATION

  1. BF E&T Support Services and Work First Support Services:

Prior receipt of Work First support services or concurrent receipt of post-TANF support services does not affect potential eligibility for the following BF E&T support services:

a.  Transportation allowance for participants:

BF E&T participants are eligible for a maximum $100 allowance per month for transportation or other costs related to participation. Bus passes and gas vouchers are allowed and will be paid by DSHS and the Employment Security Department (ESD) using the JOBS Automated System (eJAS).

b.  Clothing allowance for participants:

BF E&T participants may receive a $200 clothing allowance once in a 12 month period. Vouchers are created and payments approved through eJAS.

  1. Dependent care allowance - Non-ABAWD participants only:
    1. Allowed to BF E&T participants ages 16 through 59 with dependents.
    2. Allowed for children ages 6 through 12.
    3. Allowed when:
      1. No other person in the household is available to provide care; and
      2. There is no other informal resource available.
