OLYMPIA – The state stopped admissions to Aegis Assisted Living of Shoreline, a boarding home at 15100 First Avenue N.E.

The boarding home is licensed to Aegis Senior Communities LLC.

The state took the action after finding numerous violations that adversely affected the safety and well-being of residents.  The violations include but are not limited to:

• Failure to ensure that the home had sufficient staff to provide care and services -- consistent with the residents' negotiated service agreements -- to five residents.  As a result, cognitively impaired residents were at risk for harm because of insufficient supervision.
• Failure to provide 24-hour supervision, resulting in inadequate and untimely care.
• Failure to ensure infection control measures were followed for three residents, placing all residents at risk for infections.

While the boarding home is in stop placement, the facility may not admit new residents or re-admit current residents without department permission pending any appeal.

The facility has the right to contest the stop placement requesting an administrative hearing within 28 days of state notification.  Current residents may stay in the boarding home pending completion of the appeal process.  If a resident chooses to remain, DSHS will continue to monitor the boarding home for resident safety.
