DSHS halts admissions to Spokane boarding home

OLYMPIA -- The state Department of Social and Health Services has stopped admissions to Cooper George Senior Living, a boarding home at West 707 5th Avenue, Spokane.

The boarding home is licensed to Cooper George Investors LLC.

The state took the action after finding numerous violations that jeopardized the safety and well-being of residents. The violations include but are not limited to:

While the boarding home is in stop placement, the facility may not admit new residents or re-admit current residents without department permission pending any appeal.

The facility has the right to contest the stop placement by requesting an administrative hearing within 28 days of state notification. Current residents may stay in the boarding home. If a resident chooses to remain, DSHS will continue to monitor the boarding home for resident safety.
