“The mission of the Mental Health Division is to promote recovery and safety.”
Children's Mental Health Services - KIDTeam
Summary of Purpose:
In October 2003, Mental Health Division headquarters and contract staff with assigned responsibilities for the children's mental health program finalized their annual plan with a presentation to the Mental Health Division Management Team. Management Team approved the team's recommendations and 'KIDTeam' became the formal vehicle for coordinated planning and administration of the headquarters' children's mental health program. This model improves the Mental Health Division's capacity to proactively identify, analyze and prioritize issues, relying on the combined knowledge, leadership and integrated efforts of the team. The model reinforces accountability and provides clarity as we work to strengthen linkages with partners and stakeholders. The KIDTeam plan addresses urgent, maintenance-level, and long-term initiatives. Goals and objectives are both wide-ranging and targeted.
Protocol for utilizing KIDTeam:
- KIDTeam Annual Plan priority goals and objectives are available to all MHD staff, RSNs and other key partners. Individual team member work plans are also available. Plan(s) will be updated yearly in January. New or urgent initiatives are managed in the context of the overall plan.

- Access to KIDTeam: To request review of an issue by KIDTeam, contact any KIDTeam member via email or phone. If possible, contact the content expert first (see above). Using the group email list will also be helpful. Please specify the urgency of the request and the proposed outcome. KIDTeam will respond as soon as possible. Depending upon the issue, response may take the form of immediate feedback, meetings, email, briefing papers, updates to MHD Management Team, etc. KIDTeam will also initiate contact with appropriate MHD staff to facilitate integrated planning and effort.
- Meetings: KIDTeam meets every other week on Wednesdays, from 9am-noon, usually in the Gemini Room, 4th floor OB2. A structured agenda and meeting minutes are maintained; active projects/initiatives are closely tracked. Other MHD program administrators and/or system partners join the KIDTeam as needed for specific initiatives. Ad hoc meetings also occur as needed.
- Measuring KIDTeam activity: Progress towards priority goals and specific objectives will be documented in structured minutes, summary reports, formal work products, routine updates to Management Team, etc.
