BCCU Current Turnaround Times

BCCU is currently processing name and date of birth background checks received November 9.
- General background checks currently have a six business day
turnaround (excluding holidays and weekends)
- Turnaround time for APS background checks is approximately two hours
- Turnaround time for State Employee or rushed background checks remains
at one business day
- Processing rejected background checks received November 16 (same business days)
- Processing court documents received November 18 (same business day)
- Processing records requests received November 18 (same business day)
BCCU is receiving results for DSHS fingerprint checks submitted to Washington
State Patrol (WSP) between June 19 and November 17.
- WSP is taking up to 8-weeks to process resubmits due to poor print quality.
- FBI is taking up to 5 months to process resubmits due to poor print quality.
- Note: Washington State Patrol and FBI do not return results in the
order they were originally submitted.
To find out the status of a background check, email your request to bccuinquiry@dshs.wa.gov, with the following information
- Date the forms were submitted to BCCU;
- BCCU account number from box 4 of the authorization form;
- Applicant's name and date of birth; and
- Identify if it was a fingerprint-based background check.
If you prefer, you may still contact us by telephone at (360) 902-0299. Due to the number of incoming calls and the length of time it takes to provide this information over the phone, we request you limit the number of status check requests to no more than three forms per phone call.
