TED - Trainers

Learn more about our TED Trainers detailing their hearing loss, counties served, years of experience as an ODHH contractor, and voluntary experience in various roles within the communities they serve.  Seven out of eight contractors are deaf, hard of hearing or deaf-blind themselves.   All contractors are respected leaders in their communities.   These contractors have contracted with ODHH for a long-time, ranging from 2-15 years.

Meredith is actively involved in serving the Deaf and hard of hearing community. Meredith comes to the TED Team with both personal and professional experience in the field of hearing loss. She has worked with Sprint Relay providing outreach presentations about the relay service and how it can open the communication doors for individuals who may have otherwise not been able to communicate by phone. She herself is a relay user and has educated people about Speech to Speech technology for use by individuals with speech disabilities.

Sandra is actively involved in serving the Deaf and hard of hearing community. Currently on Statewide Independent Living Council and the Rehabilitation Services Council. (DVR)

Patrick is an active member of the community and was heavily involved in working with ODHH Staff during the development of the DBC with HumanWare. Currently serving on Deaf-Blind Service Center Board of Directors.


John Plecher - Since 2008

John is an asset due to his strong technology- technical abilities. His understanding of the very complex Deaf-Blind Communicator allows for the end users to learn this new technology. He is very active in the Deaf and Deaf-Blind communities, serves as deaf interpreter, support service provider (for deaf-blind), active in the TA-DA!, (interpreting in theaters) and served on WSRID Board of Directors

Hard of hearing serving deaf and hard of hearing clients

Bert is an elderly gentleman (in his 70's) who actively serves as a volunteer on various boards and committees for organizations who serve people with hearing loss, especially HLA of WA.
