News Updates
- Starting fall 2026, CDWA will require multi-factor authentication for all its systems. MFA is a security process that requires two or more verification factors, which could be a password, use of a mobile device, or providing unique biometric recognition, such as typing or voice. The process is used to confirm your identity and protect accounts from unauthorized access. It provides extra security beyond only entering a password. DSHS and CDWA have agreed that MFA is a needed process to stay current with security standards and have moved forward with gathering participants for testing. DSHS and CDWA will continue to provide updates and support to online users as MFA processes fall into place and become standard practice.
- In 2024, the CDE vendor prioritized making improvements to the hiring process. Through detailed process and system analysis, they identified multiple ways to streamline and reduce the time it takes to complete hiring. DSHS continues to monitor the improvements as part of overall contract oversight.
- DSHS conducts an annual audit of the vendor per contract requirements. This audit is broken into quarterly segments allowing for more frequent compliance checks.
Why a CDE?
The move to a Consumer Directed Employer model shifted the individual provider employment-related activities to the CDE. This move helped DSHS realize the goal of increasing the capacity of DSHS and Area Agencies on Aging case management, customer service, and other social services staff to focus on core case management activities. As the managing employer, clients will continue to select, schedule, manage, and dismiss their IP.
