Suspension of DSHS services

The Washington State Legislature had not yet approved state operating and capital budgets for the 2017-19 biennium that begins July 1. If the Legislature does not enact budgets before July 1, state agencies will fully or partially shut down.

While we still expect the budgets to be approved by July 1, DSHS has been working on a contingency plan in case the partial shutdown occurs.

In the unlikely event that a shutdown is necessary, we have identified DSHS services we will have to suspend until the 2017-19 budgets are enacted and those that will continue. That list, and a list of services that DSHS will maintain, is here

Suspended services include activities related to responding to public records requests. We would be unable to process public records requests during a partial government shutdown.

Here is a summary of all state agency plans and related information.
