Exempt Workers

Long-Term Care Workers Exempt from Basic Training

  • Workers who have a Washington state RN, LPN, NAC, or ARNP credential that is active and in good standing .
  • Workers with a special education endorsement granted by the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.
  • Workers employed by community residential providers (exempt until January 2016).
  • Workers employed between 1/1/2011 and 1/6/2012 in a Washington state long-term care setting and completed all training requirements at that time.

 

Adult Family Home Applicants and Others Affiliated with the Applicant:

  1. Applicants who are NOT currently licensed must complete 75 hours of long-term care worker training and become certified home care aides.
  2. Currently licensed applicants who previously met the training requirements do not have to have the 75 hours of long-term care worker training or become certified home care aides if there is no break in licensure. If there is any break in licensure, the 75 hour training and certification will be required.
  3. Resident managers or entity representatives currently in that position who will NOT have a break in service from one provider to another and who met previous requirements will not be required to have the training and certification. If there is any break in service, the 75 hour training and certification will be required.
