Medicaid 1915(b)(4) Waiver Renewal Application for Selective Contracting to Continue the Consumer Directed Employer Program

In 2018, the Washington State Legislature passed Senate Bill 6199 authorizing DSHS to create a Consumer Directed Employer (CDE) program. The state filed a 1915(b)(4) waiver application for selective contracting with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), which was approved with an effective date of October 1, 2021. The Health Care Authority (HCA) and the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) intend to submit a 1915(b)(4) waiver renewal application to extend this approval for another five years, effective October 1, 2026.

Home and Community Living Administration would appreciate any input or concerns regarding the waiver renewal.
