The Washington State Tribal [American Indian] Vocational Rehabilitation Programs [AIVRP] provide services to American Indians with disabilities who are seeking employment. The Washington State Division of Vocational Rehabilitation[DVR] works cooperatively with the Tribal VR Programs to enhance the independence of individuals with disabilities, facilitate access to vocational rehabilitation services and increase employment opportunities for those served by DVR and AIVRP.
Washington State’s current Statewide Agreement between Tribal Vocational Rehabilitation programs, the Department of Social and Health Services Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Department of Services for the Blind provides a general framework for building a cooperative and service-oriented relationship to insure American Indians and Alaskan Natives receive the full scope of vocational rehabilitation services possible, The current Statewide Agreement, has been drafted, but has not been signed by all of the participating Tribes, as DVR receives those signature pages they will be added to the Agreement.
