If you are a current customer, or have applied for benefits, you can use The Answer Phone to get information about your DSHS benefits.

The Answer Phone is an automated voice response system that allows you to:

  • Obtain your benefit status and payment information
  • Check the status of documents you gave the department
  • Obtain information about your child care benefits
  • Change The Answer Phone personal identification number (PIN) to ensure confidentiality
  • Leave messages for a DSHS worker and retrieve messages left by a DSHS worker
  • Find out when you can complete an interview

 

Using The Answer Phone

To use The Answer Phone system you will need to have:

  • Your client identification number and the last four digits of your social security number; or
  • Your social security number and four digit year of birth

The first time you call The Answer Phone, you will be asked to create a new PIN.  This helps keep your information confidential.  Once you have created a new PIN, you are ready to start accessing The Answer Phone system.

The system will guide you through the available information.
