What is the Department of Commerce Interface?

An interface with the Department of Commerce that accepts information into ACES on a monthly basis.  ACES receives the file on the first Tuesday of every month (or on the next business day if the first Tuesday is a holiday).  The Department of Commerce provides a monthly file of recipients who received a Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Payment (LIHEAP) in the last 12 months.  ACES refreshes the database monthly, which results in a rolling 12-month history.

What information is updated when LIHEAP payment is issued?

The LIHEAP payment tracking section on the Shelter page in ACES.online displays when LIHEAP payment is issued.

The LIHEAP payment tracking is issued by: field displays ACES, when the payment is issued through ACES, and Commerce, when the Department of Commerce issues the LIHEAP payment.   

If the Department of Commerce issues a LIHEAP payment, the LIHEAP Payment Tracking information is displayed in the following fields:

  • Agency Name - the name of the agency the LIHEAP payment was issued. 
  • Energy Assistance Total Paid to Date - the total energy assistance paid.
  • LIHEAP Payment Date - when the LIHEAP was issued.
  • LIHEAP Agency Certification Date - when LIHEAP agency was certified.
