Refugee Special Employment Needs Project

The federal Office of Refugee Resettlement awards the Targeted Assistance Discretionary Grant to fund services to refugees that lead to self-sufficiency. Washington is one of 25 states receiving this three-year grant for 2013-2016. This grant is referred to as the Refugees with Special Employment Needs (RSEN) Project.

Emphasis for RSEN includes intensive case management and social adjustment services. Service providers also offer intensive work readiness training, job placement, and job retention services.

In addition, providers offer support services to participants to help with transportation, tools, work clothing, as well as other retention services to ensure their transition to employment goes smoothly.
