Fathers Matter

Thank you for visiting our website. Children’s Administration is now part of the Department of Children, Youth, and Families. Content that previously was bookmarked on this page is now available at dcyf.wa.gov. While some former Children’s Administration content is available at dshs.wa.gov, that information is now outdated. Please visit dcyf.wa.gov for the most current information. Thank you for your understanding.

Our Fathers Matter outreach project offers tools for legal fathers with children in the child welfare system. We provide links to helpful resources and information about parenting that can empower a father to successfully navigate the child welfare system.

Fathers and their families are an important part of a child's life. They are the other half of a child's biological identity and heritage. Building positive relationships benefit everybody involved and can develop a sense of connection and family during what can feel like a stressful transitional experience for a child and a father.

Our outreach efforts to legal fathers with children in the child welfare system were recently recognized by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. We invite you to use these links that can help fathers nurture their children now and throughout an entire lifetime.
