“We are pleased that the Trueblood court authorized additional time to meet the seven-day mandates for competency evaluations and competency restoration services,” said Carla Reyes, assistant secretary for the DSHS Behavioral Health Administration.

“The state’s motion for modification requested an extension of the compliance deadline to May 27, 2016, so it can open a 30-bed facility at the former Maple Lane School for juvenile rehabilitation in the Rochester area. The Maple Lane facility will provide 30 beds that are now placed on hold at WSH so we can address safety and quality of care concerns at the hospital. Maple Lane is scheduled to open in April,” Reyes said.

The court made its decision late Monday.
