Adult Family Home Administrator Training

The AFH Administrator training is a 54‑hour course that covers the licensing, safety, and management skills required to operate an adult family home in Washington state.

Chapter 388-76 of the Washington Administration Code describes the AFH minimum licensing requirements. WACs 388-112A-0800 through 388-112A-0840 describe the requirements for adult family home administrator training.

NOTE: WAC 388-76-10130 (5) outlines the requirement that the adult family home must ensure that the provider, entity representative on behalf of an entity provider, and resident manager be literate and able to communicate in the English language. They must also ensure that a person is on staff and available at the home who is capable of understanding and speaking English well enough to respond appropriately to emergency situations and be able to read, understand, and implement resident-negotiated care plans.
