Medicaid

Medicaid is a government health insurance program available to people with very limited income and resources.

Medicaid helps people with very limited income get health insurance. It does not give money directly to you. Instead, Medicaid pays your doctors, clinics, pharmacies, and care providers. Medicaid can also help pay for care in your home or in a residential setting that accepts Medicaid.

Estate Recovery

By law, the state may be paid back for Medicaid or state-funded, long-term care services a person received before he/she died. For more information see Form 14-454 Estate Recovery: Repaying the State for Medical and Long Term Services and Supports.

If you are interested in taking an in-depth look at the regulations, policies, procedures, and laws governing Washington State’s Medicaid program, there are three procedure manuals available for review. Please note their primary purpose is for staff and it is not necessary to read them to apply for Medicaid.
