Co-Occurring Disorders Among DSHS Clients

Section 601 (2) of the Omnibus Treatment of Mental and Substance Abuse Disorders Act of 2005 directed the department to adopt an integrated and comprehensive screening and assessment process to identify indications of mental illness, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders (COD). This also required the use of a screening tool that can be used by intake personnel system-wide and which will identify the most common types of co-occurring disorders.
