The mix of provider specialties for both prenatal care and delivery services is an important issue for First Steps. This report describes the characteristics of Medicaid women who received prenatal care from providers of different specialties. Medicaid women who gave birth between July 1989 and December 1990 were divided into five groups based on their prenatal care provider's specialty: obstetricians (OB), general practitioners (GP), family practitioners (FP), certified nurse midwives (CNM), and licensed midwives (LMW). Survey: How many women were Ethnic Minorities? How many women were married? How many women had a history of smoking? How many women received adequate prenatal care? Did high risk women receive more prenatal care?
