OLYMPIA -- The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) has scheduled a public hearing in Spokane County to receive comments on plans for the relocation of the substance use disorder treatment program Spokane Treatment Solutions on Wednesday, June 27, 2018.

The proposed services from this relocating treatment program will improve access to essential health care for people in Spokane County who are dependent on opioids, such as heroin and OxyContin.

The proposed program, Spokane Treatment Solutions, is requesting to move from its existing location on East Indiana Avenue and begin operating at 4305 East Trent Avenue in September 2018. The treatment program includes medication (such as methadone or buprenorphine products), case management, therapeutic treatment services, and medical oversight

The public hearing is scheduled from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27 at the Hillyard branch of the Spokane Public Library, located at 4005 North Cook Street. Sign-in begins a half hour prior to the start of the hearing.

A SAMHSA mobile app is available about treatment for opioid use disorder and the related cost savings in health care and arrests/convictions. Also online are facts for families and friends about medication-assisted treatment, information about methadone, and information about buprenorphine products.

When relocating, Spokane Treatment Solutions will maintain its certification with DSHS’ Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery. To relocate as a certified agency they must also notify other entities they are certified and licensed by such as the Washington State Department of Health - Board of Pharmacy, the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, Division of Pharmacological Therapies, and by their federally recognized accreditation organization.
