After intake determines that a case meets the sufficiency screen for CA/N, they will use a new structured decision making tool to determine which pathway to assign a CPS case to. This tool takes several factors into account, including the families' CPS history. If the family has had three or more investigations or FAR Assessments in the past year, the intake will be assigned to the CPS pathway.
CA will begin using a new intake tool to assess which cases go to the FAR pathway and which go to the Investigative pathway in October 2013. The first offices will begin assigning FAR cases to caseworkers in January 2014.
