On November 8, 1991, the surveyors found that the standard of 110 degrees for hot water temperature at the tap for the bathing needs of residents of Fircrest School was not met. In order to find a way of complying with the standard, this study was conducted to survey other facilities for developmentally disabled clients in the nation regarding their experiences with hot water temperature regulation, and to find out and recommend possible solutions. A short telephone questionnaire was designed and administered to a sample of facilities for developmentally disabled clients in all States and the District of Columbia. Forty-eight completed responses were received.
