LAUNCH OF HOUSING LOCATOR FREE ONLINE SERVICE
Dear Assisted Living Facility Administrator:
In 2012, the Washington State Department of Social & Health Services (DSHS) and Department of Commerce began researching housing locator service options in response to the requirements set by House Bill 2048, which directs local governments to maintain and update a list of interested landlords.
SocialServe.com is a non-profit agency that developed and supports a web-based service called HousingSearchNW.org, which was initially piloted in King County before going statewide in May 2013. This free online service offers housing information related to affordability and location, thus increasing successful matches between landlords and tenants. DSHS sponsors this resource in expanding statewide options for available and affordable housing.
Beginning in December of 2013, HousingSearchHW.org will expand to include adult family homes and assisted living facilities. Participation is on a voluntary basis and is not required. A SocialServe.com representative will be contacting you in the coming weeks to offer assistance in registering your listing, which will enable you to manage your facility/home's profile. You determine the level of detail in the listing, such as vacancies, amenities and other services offered. If you prefer not to wait, you can register online now and create a profile. Please refer to the enclosed flyer for further information.
