From the 2008 American Community Survey

Characteristics and numbers of Washington residents with serious hearing difficulties are described and compared with the general population and other persons with health conditions causing serious functional limitations. The prevalence of Washington residents with serious hearing loss was requested by the DSHS Office of Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Data are drawn from the 2008 American Community Survey (ACS), which is administered each year by the U.S. Census Bureau to a representative sample of the state population. The focus is on demographics, education of persons over 25, and employment, income and poverty status of those with serious hearing difficulty.
