The purpose of this report has been to present results of a study designed to develop parole prediction measures to aid Washington officials in their consideration of persons for parole. Such actuarial prediction methods seek to identify those variables which are predictive of parole success and to develop prediction tables in which persons may be placed in categories of risk based upon their parole prediction score. Prediction measures developed from a study sample of 678 persons were tested on a validation sample of 689 persons. Both groups were followed for two years from their initial date of parole in order to determine parole outcomes.
