The goals of this study were to compile descriptive information about this population and to provide data the Division might use to assess the adequacy and appropriateness of family living for these persons. Data were collected to answer the following key research questions: 1. What are the characteristics of developmentally disabled persons who live with their families? What are the characteristics of their families? 2. What factors contribute to the family's decision to keep a developmentally disabled member in the home or seek another residential alternative? 3. For those who moved from the family home after age 18, where do they live and what factors were associated with their leaving? 4. How do eligible developmentally disabled persons who are not clients resemble DDD clients, and how do they differ?
