Characteristics and Use of Services, Fiscal Year 2001

How do aged and disabled clients who receive mental health services recorded through the Mental Health Division of the Department of Social and Health Services compare to other aged and disabled adult clients? Available administrative data were used to address how these clients compare in terms of diagnoses for mental health disorders, costs for medical care, and chance of dying. This report is a preliminary analysis to establish baseline information about the characteristics of clients who receive mental health services and the costs for providing medical care, behavioral health services, long-term care, and chemical dependency treatment.
