Community Variety Hour This project will be implemented in 28 nursing home communities, and the purpose of the project is to improve the physical and mental health of resident participants by utilizing storytelling, group activities, light movement, and brain games with a group setting. Residents will have the opportunity to engage in activities led by facilitators who will access ability levels, provide the necessary supplies and engage appropriately. Residents will also be led through fun exercises including matching games and trivia for the brain to promote improved cognitive health. Enrichment Services will provide the twice monthly programs in each nursing home with intended outcomes of: An anticipated 80% of residents present during the programs will actively or passively engage in the programming and at least 75% of those engaged will be reported to have maintained positive or improved mental or physical wellbeing after participating in the workshops. |

Bridges to Home |
Play Time This project will be implemented for one year at Bridges to Home, the only pediatric skilled nursing facility in the State of Washington. This project aims to increase socialization and engagement of residents by at least 25% for those participating, through the use of therapeutic play equipment. Play is an important part of any child’s experience. For the children at Bridges to Home, it is vital, helping them gain physical strength, fine motor skills, and self-confidence, as well as teaching them skills like sharing. |

Skin and Wound Management Training and Certification This project will be implemented in 16 WHCA member nursing homes in the State of Washington. This project will provide 29 participating staff from the 16 skilled nursing facilities with proper wound care training to empower staff to deliver effective, timely, and compassionate care, directly impacting resident health and quality of life. This is a three-month online self-paced training program. The goals, based on the pre and post-tests completed by the participants, are to note a 25% increase in wound care knowledge with eighty percent of the participants passing the certification test the first time. |

This project aims to reduce social isolation, foster self-expression, and strengthen community connections. This project will integrate professional arts experiences with resident-driven expression. The project begins with a touring performance of “A Masterpiece” by the SilverKite Intergenerational Theater Company, presented at each participating nursing home. Following the production, SilverKite teaching artists will lead six 90-minute theater-based workshops with residents, guiding them through storytelling, rehearsal, and performance processes. These sessions will culminate in residents creating and sharing their own original theater piece with an audience. |
