A Break for You and Your Caregiver

Hourly Respite (All ages)

Do you sometimes need to do things at home or in your community while your main caregiver takes a break? Or have someone help you with activities while your main caregiver is away? Respite care is a great way for both you and your main caregiver to recharge. It’s a short-term service to use now and then as a way for your caregiver to take a break while you get the support you need in your community or at home.

Respite in the Community

Get involved in recreational activities offered by a local organization or business that’s contracted as a Respite in the Community provider. If you live with your main caregiver, this service gives both of you a break while making sure you get the support you need.

Overnight Planned Respite Services (Age 18 and older)

If you live with your family or primary caregivers, OPRS can provide a short-term overnight break for your caregivers and activities for you. This includes individual providers and Companion Home providers.

OPRS is provided in a community setting, such as a home or apartment, and serves only one person at a time. It is staffed by DDCS contracted and certified providers. Your services are based on a person-centered plan developed with you, your primary caregiver and OPRS provider to meet your needs. You may request OPRS up to fourteen days within a calendar year.
