Western State Hospital invites community to learn more about mental illness on Saturday, Nov. 4

LAKEWOOD- Western State Hospital is hosting an education event Saturday, Nov. 4 for anyone interested in learning more about mental illness and behavioral health services. 

Open to the public, this event provides friends and family members of hospital patients as well as community members, a better understanding of mental illness and how a supportive family and community can help someone with a mental illness recover.

DSHS moves to revoke certification of drug/alcohol treatment program facility in Pierce County

OLYMPIA-The Department of Social and Health Service notified A Fresh Beginning treatment facility in Tacoma, Washington that it has begun the revocation process on the facility’s certification.

Federal government gives additional extension to SIA for Western State Hospital

LAKEWOOD, WA --The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) announced that Western State Hospital has been provided an additional extension to the Systems Improvement Agreement (SIA) from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

This extension runs through November 2, 2017. CMS previously granted a 60-day extension in July followed by a 30-day extension in September.

LAKEWOOD, WA --The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) announced that Western State Hospital has been provided an additional 30-day extension to the Systems Improvement Agreement (SIA) from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
