Assisted Living Quality Measures Project

During the 2018 Legislative session, Engrossed House Bill 2750 passed. This bill adds Section 3 to chapter 18.20 RCW, which relates to quality in Washington State’s assisted living facilities (ALFs). This new section requires that the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) facilitate a work group process to recommend quality metrics for ALFs. The work group will:

  • Submit recommendations for a quality metric system,
  • Propose a process for monitoring and tracking performance, and
  • Recommend a process to inform consumers.

Activities the work group completed included:

  • Submission of an interim report to the Legislature by September 1, 2019 and,
  • Submission of a final report to the Legislature by September 1, 2020, which included recommendations from the work group.

Meetings for the work group were held from October 2018 through May 2020.  Meeting minutes are posted here.
