Food Assistance Program Employment and Training

ORIA Program Manager:

McKenzie Nassiri

The Food Assistance Program Employment and Training program seeks to provide employment readiness opportunities for State Food Assistance recipients, helping people prepare for work as well as obtain and maintain employment.

FAP recipients face employment barriers that are similar to those of other refugees and immigrants receiving services from ORIA, including limited English proficiency; lack of education or knowledge and skills in navigating U.S. work culture; gaps in work history due to displacement; practical barriers such as transportation; and temporary and insecure housing. Participation in FAP Employment and Training is voluntary and there is no requirement to participate a certain number of hours.
