Child support doesn’t automatically change when life does. But if you have an open case with the Division of Child Support, you can request a review of your child support order any time.
Reasons to ask DCS for a modification include:
- You’ve changed jobs.
- Your income has changed.
- Your child’s medical or child care costs have changed.
- You’ve had another child since your child support order was created.
Order modifications depend on many factors, and we are here to guide you through the process.
Important
- If DCS served you with a Notice and Finding of Financial Responsibility or if you had a hearing over the phone with DCS representatives, you might have an administrative order.
- If your child support is based on a court order, your modification request must go through the county prosecutor's office.
If you are not sure what kind of case you have or you want more information, please contact us at DCSMods@dshs.wa.gov nd include your email or phone number. You can also call your support officer at 800-442-5437.
