Alien Emergency Medical Programs

What it is:

An emergency medical program for individuals who do not meet the citizenship or immigration status requirements of other Apple Health programs.

Who is eligible:

Individuals with a qualifying medical condition, which includes at least one of the following:

  • Emergency room care, inpatient admission, or outpatient surgery;
  • A cancer treatment plan;
  • Dialysis treatment;
  • Anti-rejection medication for an organ transplant

Income and Resources:

Income and resource limits are the same as for the program to which the AEM applications are categorically relatable..

How to Apply:

Individuals with a qualifying emergency medical condition who are:

  • Age 65 or older and not a caretaker for a child under age 18;  
  • Receiving Medicare; or
  • Seeking long-term care services and are not relatable to a MAGI- based Apple Health program. .

You can apply online at www.washingtonconnection.org or by completing the Application for Long-Term Care/Aged, Blind, Disabled Coverage (HCA 18-005). This application can be downloaded from the Health Care Authority website.

Individuals with a qualifying emergency medical condition who are:

  • Age 19 to 64;
  • Not receiving Medicare; or
  • Seeking long-term care services and are relatable to a MAGI- based Apple Health program

You can apply by completing the Application for Health Care Coverage (HCA 18-001), This application can be downloaded from the Health Care Authority website.
